5 inmates of dental hospital die of food poisoning
Chennai, Nov 28: Five aged inmates, including three women, of the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) at Kilpauk in the city died on Friday, Nov 28 following suspected food poisoning.
The victims suffered vomitting and diarrhoea, police sources said.
IMH authorities, however, refused to disclose the names of the deceased.
Meanwhile, 26 people were admitted to the Communicable Diseases Hospital at suburban Tiruvottriyur following symptoms of cholera.
A majority of them were from North Chennai which had been severely hit by the cyclone. Locals alleged lack of sanitary facilities led to the outbreak of cholera.
