Centre, State should jointly combat terrorism : Paswan
Ranchi, Nov 28 (UNI) Lok Janashakti Party president Ram Vilas Paswan today termed as dangerous trend the ploy of some groups to pass the buck to the Centre in the wake of every terrorist attack, saying both the State and the union governments should devise a joint mechanism to counter the menace.
Mr Paswan, also the Union Minister, said the US had effectively devised a mechanism not allowing reccurrance of terrorist strikes after the twin-tower catastrophe but unfortunately several dastardly attacks had occurred in this country since then.
The LJP president, addressing a gathering on the party's eighth foundation day here, referred to the ongoing worst ever crisis in Mumbai, saying terrorists should not be identified with any religion.
He said there were two groups behind such designs--foreign elements and internal elements.
The external forces were obvious, he said.
''But internal elements are more dangerous'', he said, adding the BJP always became vociferous targeting the Muslims, whenever any terror attackxstook place.
''What about Pragya Thakur and Purohit (Army personnel) in the Malegaon case. The security agencies are, after perusing many details were on the verge of zeroing on even Sudarshan....'' Mr. Paswan, said he had already written to the Prime Minister requesting him to investigate the syllabus in schools run by the RSS, where the students were taught that Shiv Lingams existed in Mecca.
There should not be double-talk on countering terrorism and all should be dealt with the same yardstick, be it Hindu, Muslim or Christian, he added.
