33 magistrates appointed for 7 segments going to polls on Dec 7
Srinagar, Nov 28 (UNI) The seven assembly segments, spread over Baramulla district of north Kashmir, going to polls in the 4th of seven-phase elections in Jammu and Kashmir on December 7, alongwith 11 other constituencies, have been divided into 33 sectors.
''We have divided the constituencies into 33 sectors to ensure free, fair and transparent elections, officials said here today.
They said each sector will be headed by one sector magistrate.
Officials said 6 sectoral Magistrates have been deployed in Uri constituency, 5 each in Sopore, Baramulla and Pattan, 4 each in Rafiabad, Sangrama and Gulmarg constituencies.
The authorities have set up 743 polling stations in these constituencies for 5,18,963 voters, including 2,49,982 women.
The highest number of 117 polling stations would be set up in Sopore assembly segments, strong hold of chairman of breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) Syed Ali Shah Geelani followed by 110 in Uri, bordering Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK), 109 Gulmarg and 107 in Baramulla.
The authorities have deciced to deploy state government officials for poll duty, who have been given training of handling the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM).
They said randomisation for all the 743 polling stations was conducted today in presence of Election Observers of all the seven constituencies and District Election Officer.
About 3600 employees would be randomly deployed in these constituencies. These employees include 20 percent of the reserve staff also, they said.
