Yeddy Mourns V P Singh's death, three days state mourning
Bangalore, Nov 27 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today expressed grief over the death of former Prime Minister V P Singh.
In his death, the country has lost an eminent and popular leader who strived for the cause of dalits and backward classes, the Chief Minister said.
According to a statement issued by Chief Minister's secretariat, the state government would observe three days mourning as a respect to the departed leader.
Water Resources Minister Basavaraj Bommai would represent the state government in the funeral ceremony of former Prime Minister.
Opposition leader in the Karnataka Assembly and Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge condoled the death of Singh, who was instrumental in implementing the Mandal Commission report that contributed a great deal to the uplift of backward classes.
Janata Dal(S) state unit president Mallanagouda Nadagouda also condoled the death of former Prime Minister.
