Tourist town plunged in darkness

Kancheepuram, Nov 27 (UNI) The historic and tourist town of Mamallapuram has been in darkness after sunset following power failure, putting the local people and tourists to great hardship.

The power failure was caused due to heavy rains lashing Tamil Nadu since the last three days. Tourists who have come here to see the famous shore temple and other mythical depictions in sculptures are feeling disappointed.

The local people here have appealed to Tamil Nadu government through the district administration to take steps immediately to restore power supply to the town.
