Pondy minister urges CII to bring in development
Puducherry, Nov 27 (UNI) Puducherry Home and Health Minister E Valsaraj today urged the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to bring development in the Union Territory by promoting tourism.
According to a press release here the Minister made this request when CII Puducherry Chairman Mr Sriram Subramanya and former Chairman Umesh Shenoy called on him yesterday.
They discussed ideas like transforming Puducherry into a model town by removing congestion in important places where a large number of people visit every day, keeping important commercial places in the the town clean and making them shopping friendly by engaging a third party under BoT system or PPP mode.
Suggesting that the J N Street here could be transformed into a model shopping place, Mr Valsaraj urged CII to support this initiative. Mr Sriram assured him that CII would work with the government in this regard, the release said.
Mr Sriram also briefed the minister on CII Puducherry unit's new initiatives like 'Puducherry Vision 2025' and Puducherry city Connect and sought the minister's support, the release added.
