Left lambasts Centre, Mah govt for Mumbai attacks
New Delhi, Nov 27 (UNI ) The Left parties today came down heavily on the Centre and the Maharashtra government for their failure to get prior information about the gruesome Mumbai attacks and stressed that the strike would not affect the morale of the people.
CPI and CPI(M) Floor leaders in the Lok Sabha Gurudas Dasgupta and Basudev Achariya said they would bring up the issue during the Parliament session, starting from December 10.
Talking to UNI on phone, Mr Achariya said ''this is a serious matter.'' Mr Dasgupta noted no amount of terrorist violence could defeat the ''invincible spirit of Indians.'' Mr Achariya said the Left parties had always pointed out the need for strengthening the investigating agencies, but the government had turned a deaf ear to it.
''How come that the Manmohan Singh and the Maharashtra governments failed to get the prior information about such a huge planned attack?'' the CPI(M) leader asked.
Mr Dasgupta stressed that all the political parties should join hands to fight the terrorists onslaught coming from any quarter.
He said they would raise the issue in Parliament in a big way, to mount pressure on the government to streamline the investigating agencies.
