Home Minister allays fears over security
Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 27 (UNI) Kearla Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan today said the state government would strengthen security in the coastal areas, in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
Talking to reporters here, he said security would be strengthened at the state Secretariat and Legislature Assembly complex also.
Mr Balakrishnan said there was no cause for any panic as security arrangements were being tightened to ensure safety of pilgrims at the famed Sabarimala temple.
He said the government would adopt the security measures jointly with the Central Intelligence agencies. However, there was no plan to constitute an anti-terrorist squad in the state.
The Home Minister said the state government would maintain strict vigil in the places vulnerable to terrorist infiltration.
Stating that terrorists could strike in any part of the country, he said the state government would extend cooperation to the Central and state level intelligence units to counter terrorism.
