High alert in UP after Mumbai attacks
Lucknow, Nov 27: The Uttar Pradesh government has sounded high alert and security has been beefed up at important locations in the state, in wake of the terror attacks in Mumbai, which left at least 100 people dead since last night.
Security at the Taj Mahal and the religious cities Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mathura and other places was put on high alert, while security personnel were deployed in all the airports, railway stations and busy market places in the state.
State Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Brijlal said here today that patrolling has been intensified and additional security forces were deployed in crowded places.
Police had conducted major checking drive across the state last night, he said.
