Congress candidate's convoy ransacked

Bhopal, Nov 27 (UNI) The convoy of Congress candidate Chandrabhan Singh has been attacked allegedly by BJP workers at Imalia area in Damoh constituency this morning.

The Congress candidate alleged that he got the news early morning today that some BJP workers, including BJP leader Jayant Mallaiya and his family members, have been distributing liquor among the voters to influence them for voting. When he reached the spot he was attacked and his vehicle was ransacked by them.

The candidate was on his way to lodge a complaint in this regard.

In another incident an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) has been damaged by two weapon-laced unidentified miscreants at Lahari constituency in Bhind district's Tejpura village where two security personnel were deployed. The incident of air firing was also reported.

The polling has been stopped.

More than two dozen policemen rushed to the spot. Panic gripped in the area.

Polling has been commenced in Madhya Pradesh amid some sporadic incidents of violation of model code of conduct, violence, malfunctioning of EVMs from different parts of the state.

Elaborate security arrangements has been made in the state in view of terrorist attack in Mumbai, police added.
