Advocates boycott work over terrorist activity in Mumbai
Lucknow, Nov 27 (UNI) The advocates of the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court today boycotted work and announced the same for tomorrow in wake of the dastardly terror strike in Mumbai since last night.
The judicial work remained affected due to the strike today, sources said.
The agitators have forwarded a memorandum to President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar and Chief Minister Mayawati, demanding adequate security cover at courts. The lawyers also gave vent to their anger over the non-functioning of metal detectors at the entry gates in the courts.
A similar protest was seen in Kanpur, where the judicial work remained paralysed due to strike by the advocates.
Few days ago, adovactes of Sultanpur court had also registered their protest, following a bomb explosion in that court.
Earlier, on November 23, 2007 serial bomb blasts at Varanasi, Lucknow and Faizabad had killed 14 people.
