8 killed, 9 injured in multi-vehicles collision

Ahmedabad, Nov 27 (UNI) At least eight people were killed and nine others were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle--truck, jeep and tractor--collision at Jakhvada village near Viramgam town about 60 km from here.

Police sources said today the incident took place yesterday, when the driver of the truck lost control over the vehicle, which hit the jeep and the tractor, killing eight of the occupants on the spot, and seriously injuring nine others.

The tractor broke into two pieces after being hit by the truck, the sources said.

The injured have been rushed to a local hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Dhirubhai Valand, Baldevbhai Devipujak, Razakbhai Sindhi, Laljibhai Thakore, Tino Thakore, Hiraben Prajapati, Manjuben Prajapati, and Hatim Sheikh, the sources added.
