Youth held for vehicle theft in High Court complex
Chennai, Nov 26 (UNI) Police have arrested a 20-year-old youth, who had been stealing two-wheelers in the Madras High Court complex for the last two years.
Police caught the youth Vinayagam of Perambur red-handed when he was trying to lift a scooty, using a false kee.
On arrest, he admitted having stolen about 50 two-wheelers in the last two years.
Vinayagam, who was working as an assistant to a lawyer, resorted to stealing of vehicles after he was sacked from the service.
Enquiries revealed that the youth would target vehicles with keys. He was also having bunch of false keys to lift the vehicles.
He confessed that he had stolen more than 50 two-wheelers and sold the stolen vehicles according to the needs of the ''customers''.
He had a code language to sell the stolen vehicles.
If the customer required ''dressed chicken,'' he would refurbish the vehicle, produce a fake registration certificate and sell the vehicle. ''The undressed chicken'' would normally go to the metal and scap shops in the city, police said.
Police have so far recovered eight two-wheelers from his ''godown'' in Perambur and looking for other vehicles.
