Thai seeks more information from India
New Delhi, Nov 26 (UNI) Thailand has sought more information from India on the November 18 incident in the Gulf of Eden in Somalia on the sinking of pirate ship by Indian Naval Ship Tabar and has given a note verbale to India to the External affairs ministry.
Senior official said that Indian ambassdor in Bangkok Latha Reddy has gone to the Thailand Foreign Ministry in connection with the upcoming East Asia Summit in the Thai capital.
Mrs Reddy was told that one of the Thai fishing trawler has suffered damages in the INS Tabar action against Somalian pirates.
She was told that they will be issuing a note verbale on seeking more information on the incident.
Media reports today said that the INS Tabar had actually sunk a Thai fishing vessel and not a pirate mothership on November 18.
However, the Indian Navy says that they had retaliated only after shots were fired fom the vessesl.
