Talathi get 2-yrs rigorous imprisonment for accepting bribe
Thane, Nov 26 (UNI) A local today awarded two years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 1,000 to a talathi in the powerloom town of Bhiwandi in the district, for accepting bribe in 2004.
Special judge A C Bacchav convicted Shyam Dondhu Patil, who was the talathi of Nizampura area, for taking a bribe of Rs 2,000 from powerloom unit owner Niyaz Ahmed Mohammad Shaikh, who wanted a 7/12 ''Sathbara'' extract of the 838 sq.yards land, owned by his family members.
Patil was nabbed by Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths, while he was accepting the second installment of the Rs 2,000 bribe from Mr Niyaz, who had lodged a complaint against him after he paid the advance.
