Rains throw film shooting schedules out of gear

Chennai, Nov 26 (UNI) Heavy rains which have been battering various parts of Tamil Nadu and Chennai city, not only paralysed the normal life, but also forced cancellation of shooting of more than 40 films and television soap operas, including Superstar Rajnikant's multi-crore project ''Eindhiran''.

Directed by Shankar, the shooting of ''Eindhiran'' had been taking place in the city for the last couple of days.

After filming of a comedy scene in a restaurant, today's shooting, involving Rajni, was scheduled in a Jewellery shop.

Though the film crew had assembled at the spot, the shooting was cancelled at the last minute due to non-stop rains lashing the city since last evening.

The shootings of other films like ''Adhi Narayana'', another popular actor Sathyaraj's ''Sangamithra'', well known producer K T Kunjumon's home production ''Kadhalukku Maranam Illai'', Lawrence Raghavendra starrer ''Rajathi Raja'', T P Gajendran's ''Magane En Marumagane'' and an all 'new stars' film ''Odum Megangale'' were also called off.

Several studios where some portions of films are still being shot on floors, wore a deserted look following heavy rain.

Shooting for television serials was also called off.

The officials of one of the studios said the incessant rains during the last couple of days had made things worse.

''The shootings have been disrupted and it is difficult for people to reach the place on time. As a result, several directors have cancelled their shooting,'' the officials said.
