National School Games commence in Patiala

Patiala, Nov 26 (UNI) Around 4500 boys and girls in different age groups from schools in the country are taking part in the sports disciplines of hockey, basketball, judo and weightlifting in the 54th National School Games which were inaugurated here this afternoon by Punjab Education Secretary,K B S Sidhu.

The hockey and basketball matches were played today, but the results of only basketball matches were available. The results of the hockey matches were not available till late evening which reflect sorely on the organisers.

The results of basketball matches are as follows: Boys (Under-17). Jammu&Kashmir beat Bihar 38-27.

Delhi beat Chandigarh 59-21 Rajasthan beat Indian Public Schools 77-50 Girls (Under-17). Punjab beat Uttaranchal 45-0.

The competitions in Judo and weightlifting will start tomorrow.
