Fake voting by polling party in C'garh
Dantewara, CG, Nov 26 (UNI) A polling party did not reach a polling centre in Bastar division for conducting repoll on November 24 and carried out fake exercise in a hut, election office sources said today.
The polling party had reported that 184 votes were polled during repolling at polling centre number 18, Gogunda, under Konta assembly segment but it was revealed later that the team had not reached the booth.
The polling party was supposed to walk 25 km from Dornapal to reach Gogunda.
Recommendation has been made to the Election Commission for taking action against nine election officials and report submitted for conducting repoll.
Divisional Commissioner R S Vishwakarma had also inquired into the complaint. The process was underway for registering a case against polling and CISF officials for not reaching the polling centre and conducting repoll in a hut at Shyam Setti village, about 10 km before Gogunda polling centre.
Repolling was necessitated after naxals had looted Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and disrupted polling on November 14.
