AP faces power shortage as central units trip

Hyderabad, Nov 26 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh had a power shortage of 1200 MW today when Central power generating units tripped on technical grounds.

A release from the State Transmission Corporation (TRANSCO) here said AP GRID suffered loss in generation as Central Generating Units at Ramagundam broke down and there was shortage of fuel at Neyveli and Talcher.

''Additional power is being mobilised by running IPPs on naphtha and stepping up purchases from other states,'' it said, adding central units, which tripped on technical grounds, were expected back today.

However, the generation (AP share: 625 MW) missing from central units on account of fuel shortage, was expected to be back only by the first week of December.
