MNS president greets veteran singer Bhimsen Joshi

Pune, Nov 25 (UNI) Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray today greeted veteran Hindustani classical singer Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, after the Union Government declared the country's highest civilian award Bharat Ratna for Pandit Joshi recently.

Mr Thackeray visited the maestro's Navi Peth residence here this morning and spent half an hour with him. He also enquired about Panditji's health.

Later, while talking to newspersons, Mr Thackeray expressed his satisfaction that Panditji would get the highest civilian award for his lifetime contribution to Indian classical music.

''The award came little late, though,'' he added.
