Landmine blast kills five in Chattisgarh
Raipur, Nov.25 : At least five policemen of the District Force (DF) have been reportedly killed in a landmine blast triggered by naxalites in Bastar district of Chattisgarh today.
Inspector General of Police (Bastar), A N Upadhaya said that the naxals blew up a bridge killing five policemen on the spot and injuring at least two DF personnel near the Mardapal and Kondagaon areas of the district.
The force was returning after election duty from Narayanpur assembly constituency, where re - polling was held on Monday.
They halted in Mardapal last night after the polls and were returning to Kondagaon, Upadhaya added.
Meanwhile, senior police officials and additional forces have rushed to the spot to asses the situation .Massive combing operation were on to nab the naxals, he said.
