Coal production stands at 37.31 MT in October
New Delhi, Nov 25 (UNI) The actual total coal produced in the country during October was lower at 37.31 million tonnes (MT) as against the production target of 37.71 MT.
According to an official statement issued here today, the actual coal produced by the two public sector coal firms, namely the Coal India Ltd (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) steed at 37.31 MT (provisional).
The actual coal production of CIL and SCCL during October 2007 was 34.05 MT.
There was a growth of 9.57 per cent over the corresponding month of previous year. Coal dispatches to power sector during October 2008 was 27.77 MT (provisional).
During the month under review the e-auction was held in all coal producing companies of CIL.
The provisional result of the e-auction in CIL during October 2008 indicates that all the auctions taken together have made possible a total allocation of 32.268 lakh tonnes (LT) of coal against the offered quantity of about 40.107 LT of coal.
Percentage increase over notified price was 82.1 per cent.
During the period under review the Tamilnadu based Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) removed Overburden to the extent of 112.90 lakh cubic million (LM3) against the target fixed for the month at 109.85 LM3. The actual overburden removal for the corresponding month in the previous year was placed at 97.19 LM3.
The production of Lignite during the month was placed at 14.22 Lakh Tonnes (LT) against the target fixed for the month at 14.35 LT.
Similarly, the power generation during the month was calculated at 1171.71 Million Units (MU) against the target fixed for the month at 1076 MU.
In the power export front NLC was able to exceed its target at 968 MU as against 878 MU. The power export during the corresponding month in the previous year was placed at 966.98 MU.
Outstanding dues from Consumers to CIL and NLC including those payable by power sector to coal companies as on October 22, this year was Rs 1,985.20 crores (Provisional) as against Rs 1,035.02 crores (provisional) up to September 30, 2008. The undisputed dues accounted for Rs 943.38 crores out of total outstanding.
The outstanding dues of NLC as on October 31, 2008 was Rs 933.94 crores (provisional).
