Bring down fuel prices or face agitation, says CPI
Lucknow, Nov 25 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) today said the party would stage demonstrations across Uttar Pradesh on December 2, if the prices of petrol and diesel were not reduced by this month.
The fuel prices were hiked with a rise in crude oil prices abroad then why were they not being deducted like them, questioned senior CPI leader Ashok Mishra.
The crude oil costs have fallen from 147 dollars per barrel to 50 dollars per barrel, but people were yet to get any respite, he added.
If the Central government would not slash the prices of petrol and diesel by November 30, the party would stage protests in all the districts of the state and bring the matter to the urgent attention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by handing over memorandum to the District Magistrates, Mr Mishra said.
