Boy killed, 2 injured in grenade attack on NC candidate
Srinagar, Nov 25 (UNI) A 10-year-old boy was killed and two others were injured when unidentified assailants hurled a hand grenade towards a National Conference (NC) candidate from Sopore Assembly segment during door-to-door campaigning at Bratkanal in north Kashmir today.
Official sources said NC candidate Haji Mohammad Ashraf Ganie was coming out from a house when unidentified attackers hurled a hand grenade towards him.
However, the grenade missed the target and exploded near a shop resulting in injuries to three people, who were identified as Afaq Ahmad, Reyaz and Mudasir.
Ten-year-old Afaq later sources, they said and added Haji Ashraf escaped unhurt in the attack.
Later, hundreds of people took to streets and blocked the main road demanding probe into the incident.
About half a dozen grenade blasts took place in Sopore since the election process started in the Valley.
' A report from south Kashmir meanwhile, said one person was injured and a vehicle damaged when an anti-poll mob attacked Congress workers at Kokernag.
