Air Marshall Nayyar visits IAF base

Chandigarh, Nov 25 (UNI) Air Marshall Gautam Nayyar, AOC-in-C, Maintenance Command, Indian Air Force arrived at 3 BRD (Base Repair Depot) IAF here today on a three-day inspection visit.

The Air Mshl, who is accompanied by his wife, Mrs Rachita Nayyar, President Air Force Wives Welfare Association (AFWWA), Maintenance Command was given a warm welcome by Air Cmde SC Luthra, AOC 3 BRD and Mrs Renu Luthra President AFWWA (L) along with senior officials of the Depot.

A Guard of Honour was presented to the visiting dignitary by a contingent of the Depot. On the occasion, Air Mshl Nayyar inaugurated the recently acquired 40-tonne hydraulic press in the General Engineering Squadron. It is a sophisticated machine which has helped in enhancing the productivity of the depot.

Later, the Air Mshl visited the Engine Plasma Bay of the Depot.

The Depot has upgraded the existing plasma spray machine for alternate coating on components of all types of engines being overhauled at this BRD.

He also inaugurated a newly constructed Pump House in the Station. It has facilitated supply of sufficient water to technical area.

The felicitation ceremony of first time erection of helicopter in 3 BRD AF was one of the highlights of the visit of Air Mshl Nayyar.

Mrs Nayyar was the chief guest for the event.

The helicopter has been erected seven feet above the ground at a 5 degree nose down attitude. It has become a center of attraction for all school children and families.

The Air Mshl Nayyar appreciated the team work and praised the entire team for achieving such unique task in record time of three months.

During the visit, Air Mshl Nayyar inspected various groups and squadrons and took stock of the maintenance work undertaken by the Depot. He exhorted the technicians working on the state-of-the-art machinery to implement their best skill and experience generated knowledge to ensure quality output.

Mrs Nayyar interacted with the ladies of the Depot and inquired about their welfare. She briefed them on various welfare activities being undertaken by AFWWA. She took keen interest in UMEED school activities which is run by AFWWA (L) 3 BRD for underdeveloped children.
