394 officials removed in MP on EC directive
Bhopal, Nov 25: As many as 394 government officials, including 24 officials belonging to IAS and IPS, were shifted from their place of posting as per the guidelines and directive of the Election Commission(CEC) in view of the model code of conduct for Assembly election effective in Madhya Pradesh from October 14, official sources said today.
Alternate postings were made at all these places, the sources said, adding despite the EC directive to strictly adhere to the code, complaints were received against many officials.
Taking a firm stand, the EC had explained that it would not tolerate any misconduct in order to ensure free and fair elections.
The shifted officials include seven of Indian Administrative Service, 17 of Indian Police Service, 28 of State Administrative Service, 27 of Deputy Superintendent of Police grade, 60 Police inspectors and Sub-Inspectors and 250 Tahsildars and Naib Tahsildars.
The remaining five officials belonged to different departments.
