Two trampled by elephants
Ranchi, Nov 24 (UNI) Wild pachyderms have trampled to death two persons in separate incidents in Khunti.
Police today said Buddha Guria(25) of Husir village under Torpa police station went out of his bedroom at midnight last night when an elephant killed him.
Officer-in-charge Digvijay Singh and forester Kedar Sam arrived the spot this morning and sent the body to Khunti hospital, sources said.
In another incident early today, a wild tusker trampled a two-year-old, identified as Nathniel Oreya, belonging to Nimda village under Murhu police station.
According to police, the victim and his younger brother were sleeping at a land, when pachyderms smashed the head of Nathniel, killing him on the spot.
Rs 5,000 was given by the forest department to the next kin of the victims as compensation.
