Tripura minister asks to expand bank business in the Northeast
Agartala, Nov 24 (UNI) Tripura Finance Minister Badal Choudhury today urged the Centre to take steps to expand bank business in the Northeast as it has huge potential and need to develop banking facilities in the region.
Talking to media, he said that given the special characteristics of northeast one needs to think out of the box and the conventional banking systems need to adapt and adjust to the realities of the region.
He laid emphasis on the non-conventional systems of banking and said a synergy needs to be worked between these systems and conventional banking for effective results.
Mr Choudhury, however, asked banks to increase lending and all other banking services in the region in greater and higher measure as long the money lent comes back to the banks.
He also demanded to consider the issues of banking and credit, financial inclusion,industrial growth and credit system,micro finance initiatives and entrepreneurship development in the region.
