Madurai: Prisoner attempts suicide
Madurai, Nov 24: Madurai Police said that a remand prisoner tried to commit suicide in the central prison on Saturday, Nov 22. The convict tried to inflict injuries on himself with sharp instruments. A case uncer IPC section 309 (attempt to suicide) was booked.
Police said that P Appu alias Arumugam of Avaniapuram was detained in the prisons, under charges of murder, since October 11, 2008. Preliminary inquiries revealed that Appu had some differences with another inmate identified as Selvaraj.
