Leather Technologist selected for Nayudamma Memorial Award

Tenali, Nov 24 (UNI) Eminent Leather Technologist and Department of Science and Technology Secretary T Ramasami was selected for the prestigious Dr Y Nayudamma Memorial Award for 2008.

In a press release here today, the Memorial Trust Founder and Managing Trustee P Vishnumurthy said Dr Ramasami had been selected for the award for his outstanding contribution to science and technology.

The award would be presented to the Technologist by Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development D Purnadeswari at a special function here on December six.

Dr Ramasami would also deliver the 17th Dr Nayudamma Memorial lecture on the theme '' Towards people centric innovations: foresight of Nayudamma.'' The award is given annually to a scientist or technologist, who have made significant contributions to the development of science and technology in the country.

The Trust instituted the award in 1986 to commemorate the distinguished scientist and internationally renowned leather technologist Dr Nayudamma.

Earlier, recipients of the award, included Sam Pitroda, G Madhvan Nair, A Sivathanu Pillai and Nari Dattatreyudu.
