Cong condemns UP govt for displacing Dalits in Mau

Lucknow, Nov 24 (UNI) In its yet another pro-Dalit stand, the Uttar Pradesh Congress has condemned the Bahujan Samaj Party-led state government for displacing a large number of Dalits by bulldozing their houses for its Kanshi Ram project in Mau district.

The ruling government, which always blows the trumpet of being true wellwisher of Dalits, is now running bulldozer at the houses of the poor, besides uprooting trees for its Kanshi Ram project.

UP Congress Committee spokesperson further condemned the lathicharge by the police and district administration in which several people, including women and children were injured.

The UP government should develop the colony at any other place, if the denizens, who are residing in the district for long, were not ready to re-locate themselves, he added.
