20 lakh duplicate names in Mah electoral lists: Shiv Sena
Mumbai, Nov 24 (UNI) Shiv Sena today alleged that the state's voters lists consists of 20 lakh duplicate names, with many names apprearing twice or more times.
Party lesislator Subhash Desai met chief electoral officer Debashish Chakrabarty and presented him with a CD of names appearing more than once in the lists.
The list of Kolhapur district contains more than two lakh such names, he said.
Speaking to mediapersons, Mr Desai said that Shiv Sena undertook a mission to find out the number of repeated names in electoral rolls of the state and software experts were engaged to carry out the work. Subsequently, they found that 20,93,209 voters' names appeared more that once in the lists in 33 districts of the state.
Mr Desai urged the election commission to rectify the lists.
