Vaiko denied visa to travel to London

Chennai, Nov 23 (UNI) MDMK General Secretary Vaiko, a staunch supporter of the banned LTTE, has been denied visa to travel to London.

Police sources said Mr Vaiko had been denied visa by the British Embassy officials here allegedly for his pro-LTTE stand.

Mr Vaiko was scheduled to catch a flight to London tomorrow night to address a meeting convened by some Tamil organisations in support of the suffering Elam Tamils in Sri Lanka.

The sources said Mr Vaiko had decided to cancel the tickets booked for London, following denial of visa as LTTE was also banned in the United Kingdom.

However, MDMK sources, when contacted by UNI, neither confirmed the report nor denied it.

''The visa application filed by Mr Vaiko was being processed,'' the sources added.

It may be recalled that Mr Vaiko and his party member M Kannappan were arrested recently for their pro-LTTE remarks on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue.
