Militants step up violence in north Kashmir
Srinagar, Nov 23 (UNI) In a stepped up violence ahead of polling in Sopore Assembly segments in North Kashmir in the fourth phase on December seven, militants attacked the house of a Democratic Nationalist Party (DNP) candidate at Arampora with a hand grenade and automatic weapons.
A police spokesman said some unknown militants hurled a grenade and fired with automatic weapons towards the residence of Mohammad Abdullah Dar DNP candidate at Arampora, Sopore last night.
However, Mr Dar and his family members escaped unhurt though the grenade exploded in the premises of the house.
The Militants made about half a dozen such attacks during the past one week in Sopore in which a police officer and several others were injured.
