Adampur coldest in northwest plains at 4 degrees Celsius
Chandigarh, Nov 23 (UNI) Most parts of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh were in the grip of cold weather today and Adampur in Punjab was the coldest in plains with a minimum of 4 degrees Celsius.
Amritsar experinced cold night at 5.1 degrees Celsius, which was two degrees below the normal, the meteorological department said here. Ludhiana saw the minimum temperature at 9.4 degrees Celsius while the minimum at Patiala settled at 8.4 degrees Celsius.
The minimum at Chandigarh dipped to 8.4 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal.
Narnaul in Haryana was coldest in the state as the minimum plummeted to 6 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal.
Ambala and Karnal was cold at 7.2 degrees Celsius and 8.2 degrees Celsius respectively, down by three degrees each. The minimum at Rohtak was 8.4 degrees Celsius while Hisar recorded 10.8 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal, the Met department said.
In the hilly state of Himachal Pradesh, clear weather prevailed and Kalpa was coldest place in the state as the miniumum was minus 1.1 degrees Celsius. Bhuntur experienced the cold night at 1.4 degrees Celsius while Una and the tourist resort of Manali registered 1.8 degrees each.
The night temperature at the capital town of Shimla rose by 5 points to touch 9 degrees Celsuis against yesterday's 4 degree.
Dharamshala recorded the minimum temperature at 6.7 degrees Celsius, which was four degrees below normal. Sundarnagar experienced the cold night at 2.7 degrees and Mandi recorded 3.5 degrees Celsius.
The Met office has forcast clear sky for the next 24 hours.
