TN Govt official arrested for land document forgery

Kancheepuram, Nov 22(UNI) A Tamil Nadu Government official was arrested at Madurantagam near here today for indulging in illegal land dealing.

Police said Vaisali Madurai(40) hailing from a village at Madurantagam wanted to dispose his two-acre land. At the same time, Mannar(50) hailing from the same place and working in land registration office at Chennai also wanted to sell his land, which is adjacement to Vaisali's.

Mannar, however, prepared forged documents to sell both the lands.

When Madurai enquired at Registrar Office he found, to his utter dismay, that his land was sold without his knowledge.

Based on a complaint from Madurai, a police team rushed to the spot and nabbed Mannar.

Investigation was, underway, police added.
