State to set up Science Centre in Shimoga
Shimoga, Nov 22 (UNI) State government has plans to set up a Science Center in Shimoga, Karnataka Energy Minister K.S.Ishwarappa said here today.
Inaugurating a three day 16th State Level National Children Science Convention-2008 jointly organized by Karnataka Vijnana Parishad, Bangalore, Shri Adichunchanagiri Educational Society, Shimoga and Department of Public Instruction here today, Minister said that four acres of government land has been already allocated to the proposed Science centre and Karnataka government have also released one crore rupees for the purpose.
The Centre would be established after spending over Rs 6 crore, he said.
He said that apart from state government fund, Central government also giving one crore rupees for the establishment of science centre at Shimoga. In this connection he is going to New Delhi on 25th of this month and discusses the matter with concern Central minister.
He said that the proposed Science centre will be equipped with a planetarium, a laboratory, and other instruments relating to the aspect of science.
He assured that his government will give all sorts of support to the development of science in the state.
Vice-Chairman of State Planning Commission D.H.Shankaramurthy and Pontiff Prasannanatha Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Mutt of Shimoga were also present on the occasion.
About 2500 students from 33 Educational districts are participating in the convention and 317 science projects are being put display at the event.
