Spl court to pronounce sentence next week
Bangalore, Nov 22 (UNI) A Special Court which had convicted 23 people yesterday in connection with the serial bomb blasts in churches in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Goa in May 2000, will pronounce the sentence on November 28.
The judge Shivanagoudar, who heard both prosecution and defence counsels before pronouncing his sentence order against the convicted, posted the case for November 28 today.
The judge heard the arguments from both the sides through video conference, at the Parappana Agrahara Central jail here, due to security reasons and acquitted four others for lack of evidence while convicting 21.
The Special Court had found guilty 23 members of the outlawed Deendar Anjumin activists for having triggered explosives in Churches in Wadi (Gulbarga), Bangalore and Hubli between May and July 2000.
The court had tried 27 persons, who were accused in four cases of Church blasts by the COD police, against whom Chargesheet was filed in 2003.
