IRB constable arrested for supplying fake notes
Moga, Nov 22 (UNI) A constable of Indian Reserve Battalian was arrested here by police for allegedly supplying counterfeit Indian currency.
A case under section 489 of IPC was registered against Ludhiana-based IRB cop Darbara Singh, from whose house police recovered counterfeit notes of Rs 500 denomination last night, police said here today.
The case was registered on October 31 after a woman, Balwinder Kaur, resident of Duneka village, was found with some fake notes of Rs 500, when she went to deposit Rs 40,000 in Oriental Bank here.
On investigations, the counterfeit currency was traced to Darbara Singh, who was arrested after a raid in his house last night.
Police hopes that Darbara's interrogation about source of the fake currency, would lead to more arrests.
