Invite Centre to end Lalgarh impasse: Congress
Kolkata, Nov 22 (UNI) West Bengal Congress today demanded that the CPI(M)-led Left Front government should either immediately solve the impasse prevailing at Lalgarh under West Midnapore district or surrender the issue to the Centre.
''The situation is worsening day by day. The ruling party is displaying an indifferent attitude towards the tribals' problems.
Without even holding talks with the agitators and opposition, the government is asking the agitators to withdraw blockades,'' Pradesh Congress Committee's (PCC) acting president Pradip Bhattacharjee told newspersons here.
''It is a bad omen for West Bengal. Until and unless the matter is taken seriously, it might spell doom for the state ,'' Mr Bhattacharjee opined.
According to him, if the state government was not capable of tackling the situation at Lalgarh, it should surrender the issue to the Congress for reaching a solution.
''The state government should also seek the intervention of Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi as the people of Bengal repose faith on him,'' Mr Bhattahcharjee felt.
