HPPCL gets 'Excellence Award'
Shimla, Nov 22 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (HPPCL) has been conferred with 'Excellence Award' by the Institute of Economic Studies, New Delhi, for its contribution towards development of power.
A spokesman of the HPPCL today informed that former Tamil Nadu Governor Bhisham Narayan Singh gave away the award to Mr C M Walia, Director, Electrical, HPPCL, in a function held recently.
The spokesman disclosed that the Corporation had planned to develop 3000 MW power generation capacity by March, 2017 and 5000 MW by the year 2022 and added that it was also considering to have capacity addition of 1000 MW through thermal power projects and 500 MW through hydel projects in joint venture or through public-private partnership mode within or outside the state.
Solar power generation is another area where the Corporation is endeavouring to start grid interactive photovoltaic power generation system in the state through pilot demonstration projects.
