Court stays result of Municipal election in Rohini zone

New Delhi, Nov 22 (UNI) A city court today quashed the result of Municipal election from ward no 21 in the Rohini zone.

According to the petition, filed by Congress candidate Saroj Anand, bogus electoral rolls were prepared and properties and area, which did not exist, were shown in the voter list.

The record of DDA of sector 16 pocket A-8 had showed that only 120 plots were carved out by the DDA, whereas electoral rolls showed 660 plots, Ms Anand said, adding there was heavy polling in these areas.

Additional District Judge Kamini Lau ordered a stay on the election result and directed the State Election Commission to furnish details of the voting patterns and probe whether these anomalies had affected the material result of the election.

BJP candidate Nirmala Thakur was declared elected from the ward.
