Court rejects bail plea of man charged with demanding ransom from
New Delhi, Nov 22 (UNI) The Delhi court today rejected the bail application of Rajan Bikas Baragohain accused of demanding ransom money on behalf of ULFA Anwar Hussein, MP.
Special cell of Delhi police had arrested Baragohain on July 19, on the complaint of the MP that he had demanded a sum of Rs 25 lakh on behalf of ULFA militant Hira Sarania, and also taken a sum of Rs 25000.
Delhi police further seized two letters on the letterhead of ULFA addressed to External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh.
Delhi police has filed a chargesheet under section 384, 387 of IPC and section 17, 18 and 20 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baveja rejected the bail application of Baragohain stating that the allegations are of and serious nature and accused does not deserve bail at this stage.
