Guj: SIT arrests a BJP councillor and 6 others
Ahmedabad, Nov 21: The Special Investigating Team (SIT), set up by the Supreme Court to re-investigate into the Godhra riots case, has arrested seven people, including a former BJP councillor in the Naroda Gaam massacre case during the riots. Ashok Patel, the former BJP councillor of Naroda, Jeetendra Modi of Yuva BJP, Fula Vyas, Arvind Patel, Kanu Vyas, Vipual Parikh and Mukesh Prajapati were arrested yesterday on charges of arson, rioting and murder in the case.
SIT has made several arrests in the Naroda Gaam, Gulburg society and Naroda Patiya cases in the last couple of weeks.
The five-member SIT is headed by former CBI chief R Raghavan and includes ex-DG of Uttar Pradesh C D Satpathy, besides three IPS officers from Gujarat -- Geetha Johri, Shivanand Jha and Ashish Bhatia.
