Local CPI(M) leader dies over land dispute

Birbhum, Nov 21 (UNI) Local CPI (M) leader Mostaq Ali (43) was killed and ten were injured when armed CPI(M) activists attacked Trinamool dominated Salan village of Bolpur block in the district.

Police said 14 buses filled with about 1,000 CPI(M) activists carrying arms and bomb shells, attacked different district areas of Bheramari, Debagram and Simuliya and the Salan village.

The fight ensued between the two parties over a dispute involving 64 bighas of cultivable land.

The area had been a CPI(M) stronghold for a long time before Trinamool activists captured it.
