High-level delegation from Uganda, Kenya to visit Guj in Jan

Ahmedabad, Nov 21 (UNI) A high-level delegation from Uganda and Kenya will visit the state during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' Summit, to be held in January 2009.

State Chief Secretary D Rajagopalan and industries' representatives briefed mediapersons this evening, after a delegation led by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, consisting of representatives of industries returned this morning from their four-day trip of African countries.

Terming the visits as extremely successful, Mr Rajagopalan said that they were a ''road map of the future'', as both the nations were very impressed by the developmental process adopted by the Gujarat, and keen to replicate this processes in their nations.

He said that both the African countries showed keen on joint ventures with Gujarat in sectors like agriculture, food processing, cotton, petroleum, energy and infrastructure, among others.

Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga had shown keen interest in successful implementation of public-private partnership infrastruture development in the state and expressed his interest to adopt the approach for development of infrastructre and social development. The Chief Minister had assured him that he will set up a committee of officials to assist the Kenyan government in framing laws necessary for introduction of public-private partnership in the field of infrastructure development in Kenya.
