Global economic crisis triggers fall in rubber prices
Kottayam, Nov 21 (UNI) Rubber Board chairman Sajen Peter today said continued fall in the prices of natural rubber during the past few weeks was a reflection of the global economic crisis.
In a statement here, he said problems in the automobile industry would affect the natural rubber sector also.
Major vehicle producers had reduced their production. Crude oil prices plummeted below 50 dollars from 145 per barrel and as a result the price of synthetic rubber also came down.
Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) meeting to be held in Bangkok from November 26 to 28 would discuss the matter in detail, he said.
