EC extends pre-broadcast scrutiny to Radio ads
New Delhi, Nov 21 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) today issued instructions to all Chief Electoral Officers that the committee competent to scrutinise TV advertisement will also deal with applications for pre-broadcast scrutiny of political advertisement for radio while the Model Code of Conduct is in operation.
According to EC sources, this was made possible following amendments made to Advertisement Code for Radio by the Director General, All India Radio.
The sources said there have been demands from the political parties for allowing the political advertisements in Radio and more so over the FM channels and with this the political parties will henceforth be allowed to broadcast their advertisements over FM channels also.
