Cong candidate arrested for violating poll code

Indore, Nov 21 (UNI) Congress candidate from Indore-I assembly seat Sanjay Shukla has been arrested by police on the charge of violating model code of conduct.

Mr Shukla, who was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by the BJP, was later released on a bail of Rs 10,000 by Judge Ayaz Mohammad.

He was charged with going to a temporary Haj house in his area for seeking votes. Utilising religious place for political purpose comes under violation of the poll code. A case was lodged against Mr Shukla after election officials viewed campaign CD.

Mr Shukla claimed that he had gone to not seek votes but blessings. Besides, people there were not voters.
