60 left pary activists held for disrupting traffic
Kakinada, Nov 21 (UNI) As many as 60 CPI and CPI(M) activists, including party leaders, were arrested today when they laid a seige to the Collectorate here, disrupting traffic for some time on Kakinada-Pithapuram road, as part of their joint stir against the alleged anti-people policies of the Andhra Pradesh Government.
The arrested leaders, included CPI(M) District Secretary Dadala Subbarao and CPI District Secretary Misala Satyanarayana. The demonstrators raised slogans, denouncing the state Government for ''its inaction on implementation of land reforms and issuing pattas to the protected tenants''.
Their other demands were construction of pucca houses for the poor, house site pattas to the hut dwellers, giving possession of lands for which pattas have been issued, sanctioning of old age pensions and disabled pensions to all eligible without fixing a ceiling and payment of revolving fund to all the DWCRA groups.
Police later released all those arrested on personal surety.
